About Opportunity Foundation

Opportunity Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit corporation created to support people who are developmentally disabled. The corporation was founded in 1983 by several interested parents of children who were disabled, as a result of the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC) lawsuit and a judge's order to downsize the Grafton State School.

When founded, the Foundation served 16 people. Today the Foundation serves about 70 people in the three county areas that include Williams, McKenzie, and Divide Counties. In recent years we have expanded our services to include services for families of children who have disabilities. Currently we employ approximately 135 full and part time employees.

The Foundation is licensed to provide services through the North Dakota Department of Human Services as well as nationally accredited by The Council on Quality and Leadership.

The Foundation contracts with the Developmental Disabilities Division of the North Dakota Department for Human Services to provide services to their clients in our region. Individuals may also purchase services directly.
